Improving Water Utilities Design, Development and Asset Management to Increase Efficiency and Guarantee Water Security

The Australian Federal Government has pledged $500 million towards new projects and $2 billion over the next 10 years in concessional loans. ydney Water and SA Water estimate spending $2.2 and $1.27 billion respectively before 2020 in order to maintain existing assets and accommodate for increased urbanisation and population growth. This investment is also being used to help deal with aging infrastructure, changing weather patterns and to guarantee its future water security.

However, upgrading and constructing new infrastructure is a costly and time consuming venture that can have a significant long-term ramification if not implemented successfully. With that in mind this year’s conference will focus on:

Implementing new and existing technology to improve water efficiency, reduce cost and decrease waste

Establishing strategic asset management to increase the longevity and reliability of assets

Improving project delivery through superior planning, management and communication
